        Independent tour
         Least structured
         Travellers set their own itinerary
        e.g. accommodation, some meals,
        car rental, entrance tickets
        Escorted tour
         Most structured
         Comes as a complete package
        with all tour elements
         Begins & ends on a set date
         Follows a specific and detailed itinerary
         Usually travel by motor coach
        with a tour escort/manager
      - How are TAs compensated?
        Travel agencies serve as sales/retail outlets and
        are compensated by service suppliers on:
        mark-up basis:
        • Difference between the price TAs can obtain
        the service and the price they can
        charge when selling the service
        Commission:
        • based on the level of sales, calculated using
        the agreed percentage (e.g.10%)
        
        Other charges:
        Travel agencies can also charge service
        fees to their customers, such as:
        -fees for booking airlines, hotels, rental cars
        -fees for other services, such as visa application, document delivery, urgent/express services
