The main symptoms of lung cancer include:
a cough that doesn't go away after 2 or 3 weeks.
a long-standing cough that gets worse.
chest infections that keep coming back.
coughing up blood.
an ache or pain when breathing or coughing.
persistent breathlessness.
persistent tiredness or lack of energy.
Lung cancer is cancer that starts in the lungs. When a person has lung cancer, they have abnormal cells that cluster together to form a tumor. Unlike normal cells, cancer cells grow without order or control, destroying the healthy lung tissue around them.
Lung cancers typically start in the cells lining the bronchi and parts of the lung such as the bronchioles or alveoli. A thin lining layer called the pleura surrounds the lungs. The pleura protects your lungs and helps them slide back and forth against the chest wall as they expand and contract during breathing.
Cancer is a disease in which cells in the body grow out of control. When cancer starts in the lungs, it is called lung cancer. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death and the second most diagnosed cancer in both men and women in the United States.
Stage I: Cancer is in your lung tissues but not your lymph nodes. Stage II: The disease may have spread to your lymph nodes near your lungs. Stage III: It has spread further into your lymph nodes and the middle of your chest. Stage IV: Cancer has spread widely around your body.
The main subtypes of NSCLC are adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and large cell carcinoma. These subtypes, which start from different types of lung cells are grouped together as NSCLC because their treatment and prognoses (outlook) are often similar
Lung cancer often spreads (metastasizes) to other parts of the body, such as the brain and the bones. Cancer that spreads can cause pain, nausea, headaches, or other signs and symptoms depending on what organ is affected.

:
The most effective measure that can be taken to prevent the development of lung cancer is to not start smoking and to quit smoking if already a smoker. Reducing exposure to passive smoking is also an effective method of prevention
Fact :
coughing up blood can also be a sign of lung cancer.
Stage 1 cancer is highly curable
In its early stages, lung cancer doesn't typically have symptoms you can see or feel. Later, it often causes coughing, wheezing, and chest pain. But there are other, lesser-known effects that can show up, too -- in places you may not expect. (Of course, lung cancer isn't the only thing that can cause these symptoms.)
Lung cancer may produce pain in the chest, shoulders, or back. An aching feeling may not be associated with coughing. Tell your doctor if you notice any type of chest pain, whether it's sharp, dull, constant, or intermittent.
With early intervention, stage I lung cancer can be highly curable. Usually, your doctor will want to remove the cancer with surgery. You also may need chemo or radiation therapy if traces of cancer remain or are likely to stay.
