LO2, : - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Makes a copy of every file on the computer
    - - Takes a copy of any new files since the last backup or any file that has been edited
- - - - You have probably got one at home
      - Single user can log on at anyone time
      - Not because only one person can use it
      - Allows password protection of your profiles and restrictions i.e. user or admin rights
      - You OS is probably very powerful and can carryout more than one process at a time, this is called multi-tasking.
  - - - 1 user can be logged into the OS
      - Network OS (thick client)
      - Clients log on from machines which take their settings from the server
      - Each machine does its own processing
      - E.g. the system used in school
      - Time sharing system (thin client)
      - The server does all the processing for all the machines
      - The machines connected to it are basically monitors, mice and keyboards – dumb terminals
      - Each user gets a small ‘timeslice’ of the server’s processor time
      - E.g. Point of sales system see next slide
