Education and indoctrination
Education was compulsory and every child was entitled to 9 years of free education
In 1930, 4 years of primary education was made mandatory
● In 1939, it was compulsory for children to have 7 years of schooling
● Exams that were banned under Lenin were reintroduced

million to 35 million (1929-1940)

They were taught technical subjects that helped with industrialization, this allowed a more skilled workforce for the various 5 year plans Stalin planned
Party leaders in the Soviet Union lectured workers and peasants on the ideals of communism. They also stressed the importance of sacrifice and hard work to build the Communist state. State-supported youth groups trained future party members

Great demand for labour from women. Women were mothers, homemakers and workers that contributed to the expansion of the Russian economy. On collective farms, women were expected to work in the fields, Also trained as pilots during WWII and were on active duty unlike West. over half a million women fought in the Soviet armed forces. However women’s pay rates actually dropped from 1930-45
Unregistered marriages were no longer to be recognized. Divorce was to be made more difficult by raising the fee . Abortion was heavily restricted. Women were rewarded with medals for giving birth to 10+ children. Children born outside marriage were no longer allowed to inherit property from their father.The family was declared to be the basis of Soviet society. Homosexuality was outlawed.
Soviet propaganda spoke for equality of women. by 1939 one third of Soviet engineers were women and 79% of doctors were women.
State run childcares were created so women could work in factories

introduced to motivate citizens to work and be a part of the community
Workers and miners were made to be role models
Culture
To an extent, unique minority cultures could be preserved, this was better off than the times of tsar where there was a strict Russian way of living.
