Souls might not be real just as we might technically be all brains in a jar. I make this comparision because they have many similarities and the same response. The first similarity is thier inability to be easily disproved. People have gone mad trying to Prove, with a gigantic oversized campital P, that a world actually exists outside thier own mind. I am of the school of thought that you accept the world as is and then work to change it. In otherwords, game theory states that you need to act as if your not in a brain in a vat by pretty much any standard. Rational self interest, pragmatic, religious. lHowever, similar to the response to the brain in the jar scenario even if you believe that the soul does not exist, you must act in such a manner that you are an immortal vessal that will life forever.. in that world taking control of yor destiny only makes sense.
