Biomechanics Year 12
Newton's First Law
Law of Inertia - every body stays in its state of rest/constant velocity unless compelled to change that state by external forces acting upon it.
-
Newton's Second Law
Law of Acceleration - the rate of change of momentum of a body is proportional to the force causing it and takes place in the direction in which the force acts

Centre of mass
The point of concentration of mass, the point of balance
Applying a force directly through the centre of mass causes linear motion, but outside of the centre of mass causes angular motion
Factors affecting stability:
the height of centre of mass, the mass of the performer, the area of the base of support, the position of the line of gravity
