The Ludendorff Offensive
March 1918 - 500,000 German troops moves to the Western Front following the Treaty of Breast-Litovsk, Germany knew that they needed to attack while they had the advantage (before US troops arrived).
The German forces initially took 64km of land, pushing back the allies to the river Marne. The second battle of the Marne took place on the 15th of July.
Following the second battle of the Marne, the German forces were exhausted whilst the allies, especially with American support arriving on the 20th of July.
With support of US troops, the allied were able to push back German forces back to the Hindenburg line

The Treaty of Versailles

France's representative (George Clemenceau) wanted to cripple Germany with this treaty, Britain's representative (David Lloyd George) wanted the middle way and the USA's representative (Woodrow Wilson) wanted peace with Germany.

Among other clauses, it was demanded that Germany's army be reduced to 100,000 men, 6 battleships and no submarines.
