The Immune System - Coggle Diagram
The Immune System
Innate immunity: Immediate protection against microbial infection, non-specific, quick-response system
-
-
Natural Killer (NK) cells: Activated by virus-infected cells, empties cytoplasmic granules, granule proteins enter infected cells, activating enzymes that induce apoptosis
Mast cell degranulation: causes release of mediators (histamine, leukotrienes) which cause smooth muscle contraction, (prostaglandins) which cause vascular dilation, and (proteases) that cause tissue damage
Complement system: When activated, proteins causes osmotic lysis of cells and inflammation
