Recycled paper

Benefits

Saves Space in Landfills

Reduces Greenhouse Gases

Saves Energy and Water

Paper makes up about 28 percent of solid trash in landfills and one ton of paper takes up about 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space

Making recycled paper pulp, compared to generating pulp from trees and other plants to make new paper products, consumes less energy and water.

Recycling paper reduces methane and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. When paper decomposes anaerobically in landfills, it produces the gas methane.

How is it done?

Methane, a highly potent greenhouse gas, together with carbon dioxide contribute to global climate change.

Preserving Resources

Causes

Recycling paper preserves trees and forests. Every ton of recycled paper saves about 17 trees.

Recycled paper serves as an environmentally friendly resource for paper manufacturers, saving costs and energy.

Why is the normal paper bad for nature?

preparation

  1. Tear the paper into small pieces and put into a blender with warm water. Blend until the mixture becomes a fairly smooth pulp. If you want to add specks of color, add pieces of colored paper at this point, then blend just a bit.

Although it may not seem like it, the environmental impacts of paper on the planet due to its use in an inconsistent way are actually causing negative effects in nature mainly

  1. Starting from the wood, the fibers (held together by a kind of glue called lignin) are first separated by "grinding" the wood or dissolving the glue with heat and chemicals.

Paper recycling Is the process of converting old paper products into new paper

There are many ways to recycle, from DIY repurposing old objects to sending used materials to facilities

  1. To make paper, the cellulose fibers - virgin or recycled - are mixed with water in a large container called a pulper, and that mixture goes to the paper machine.
  1. In the machine, the mixture of water and fibers is placed on a long belt driven by rollers. The water is then removed by various procedures: gravity, vacuum, pressure and drying.

The recycling facility sorts, cleans, and breaks down the objects into materials—for instance, paper is broke down into paper pulp

The facilities sell these recycled materials to manufacturers who make new goods out of the materials

  1. And finally we get a huge sheet of paper, which is rolled up to form a coil.

A modern paper production line can be as long as 200 meters and occupy a space as large as two football fields. It has more power than 500 cars combined. It has up to 5,500 km of cables, 100 km of pipes and hundreds of valves. It is fully automatic and is operated with up to 50 computer screens and keyboards. Hundreds of state-of-the-art sensors and scanners take care of the control processes.

  1. Assemble your “mold.” Attach your screen to your frame using duck tape, staples, or any other method that will keep the screen affixed to the frame’s edges. You’ll use your second piece of screen later in the process.
  1. Put your mold in your bin or pan of water, then pour the pulp into the mold. (If you lift the mold up, the pulp should cover the screen.
  1. Lift the mold out of the water, and place the second piece of screen on top of the pulp. Use a cloth or sponge to press out excess water.
  1. Lift the screen and the paper should come right up with it. Now invert the screen on a towel (pulp side down) and dab the sponge or cloth on the screen side to press out more water.
  1. Then lift the screen off of the paper and set your paper on a towel to dry. You can air dry it, or cover it with a paper towel and press it with an iron to speed up the drying time.
