first major loss of life came on the 2nd of may with the sinking of the Argentine cruiser General Belgrano

two days later , bristish destroyer HMS Shelffield , hit by missile and snak with loss of 20 crew.
seven weeks after aregentina invaded , first major british troop landing in san carlos on 21 May.
the battle for Goose Green lasted a day and night and was fiercely fought, many dead. British troops hugely outnumbered and ultimately unsuccessful.

government sold off Jaguar, British Telecom, the remainder of Cable & Wireless and British Aerospace, Britoil and British Gas
Many British people took advantage of share offers and bought shares, although many sold their shares immediately for a quick profit.
These privatisations provoked serious public opposition which prevented any moves towards privatisation of the NHS
Thatcher always opposed privatising the railways, but these also were sold off early
in the leadership of John Major in the early 1990s.

general election followed in may conservatives got 14 million votes , and won clear majority. Margret Thatcher became Prime minister.
