DIFFRENT TYPES OF VEGETATION
Tropical Rain (Evergreen) Forests
USUALLY FOUND IN Tamil Nadu ,Maharashtra ,Nagaland ,Tripura
The tropical wet evergreen forest in India is usually found in areas receiving more than 200 cm of rainfall and having a temperature of 15-30 degrees Celsius
They occupy about 7% of the earth’s surface.
The forests constitute an important part of the environment and ecology.
Tropical Deciduous Forests
These forests are the most wide spread forests of India.
They spread over areas of annual rainfall ranging between 200 cm and 70 cm.
Trees of these forests shed their leaves for about six to eight weeks in dry season
The deciduous forests extend into North America and the northernmost are found in Sonora, Mexico.
Tropical Thorn Forests and Scrubs
In regions of less than 70 cm of rainfall, natural vegetation consists of thorny trees and bushes.
Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, parts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and the dry parts of the Deccan plateau are their regions as their rainfall does not exceed 75 cm annually.
Acacias, palms, euphorbias and cacti are the main plant species.
They are usually seen in the semi-arid regions of India like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana
Mangrove Forests.
