there were many revolutionary invention that started to change the way of transportation and the steam engines was one of them. this allowed citizens to move from one place to another, and it also helped businesses. railroad tracks were connected all across the country, and the businesses were able to ship their products easily, though maximizing their products. but thats what made the steam engines possible to transport goods and people over bodies of water. another example of a revolutionary invention was the telegraph. messages were primarily sent through the mail or through flag, these methods inspired a british team and an american team to invent the telegraph in the 1830's and 40's. the telegraph was paired with morse code, which allowed more complex messages to be send through wires. after the first telegraph was sent, information was being received in the war and it allowed companies to operate more efficiently. many new businesses were able to grow exponentially, thus improving the workforce and economy.
