The main image is a close up of the model, its also representative diversity in cultures.
The model is using direct address as she is looking directly at the camera. this is used to allow the reader to idealize Sophia Lauren.
The camera shot allows whoever looks at the picture to be targeted. it also makes us want to read inside as it looks like it is directly aimed at us and no one else.

-
Masthead is in the font serif, creates a royal, elegant look which could engage a higher status demographic.
The medium close up makes it look like she is looking in the mirror making the viewers think that they could look like Sophia.
Layout:
-
The layout is simplistic yet very effective. For a Vouge article it is very dull compared to previous covers even thought this cover is powerful.
The fact that the vouge logo is in front of Sophia shows that they are focused on getting there brand image out to people.
Masthead large at the top and front of model, suggesting the brand is more important than her. It is also in serif font which suggest quality/ exclusivity.
The cover is layout with Sophia shown as the most important thing on the cover. This is shown with the scale of her compared to the cover lines. The cover lines care shown with less importance.
The white background make the model stand out, making the cover more eye catching. The use of green and teal tones creates a colder tone to the image, however the women's warmer skin tone contrasts that, again making the image stand out.
Cover lines:
