1541 - After Henry VIII admitted Irish Lords into both houses and recognises their land titles, in return for their submission to him as King of Ireland

1538 - Papal order deposing Henry (a cruel tyrant)
1521 - Awarded the title of Defender of the Faith by the Pope Leo X
FRANCE

511 - England joined Holy League
along with Spain, HRE, Venice and the Papacy.
This was an Anti-French Alliance joined by other major leaders i.e Maximilian I, Ferdinand II. Again relations between England and France were poor.
1513 - Battle of Spurs
Battle in Northeastern France, England captured Tornai + Therouanne
Victory for England but relations between the two powers worsened.
1514 - Anglo- French Peace treaty
Marriage alliance as French King Louis XII and Henry's younger sister to be married. Allowed temporary peace between the two powers.
Holy Roman Empire
1526 - Henry joins the League of Cognac (anti Charles V)
Charles V at war with Francis I, in 1543 Henry VIII joins alliance with Charles V
1529 - Treaty of Cambrai (Charles signs with Francis I, Henry added as an afterthought = forced into peaceful treaty)
1525 - Battle of Pavia (Charles V captures Francis I resulting in a change of European power). Henry seen as playing minor role.
1538 - Threat of new alliance between Charles V and Francis I (Henry isolated and offered himself as a marriage alliance ot many Catholics in response - no tackers)
1544 - Boulogne won but Charles deserts Henry in France. France responds with moves to invade England (Battle of Solent - Mary Rose)
Scotland
1542-51 - Invasion of Scotland to pursue rough wooing.
Remained a source of potential trouble for Henry throughout his reign until they defeated them.
