puritans - In the 1630s, the Puritans had fled England. In New England, the Puritans created a yeoman society of relatively equal landowning farm families. But by 1750, the migrants’ numerous descendants' farmland was declining, threatening the future of the freehold ideal. The Puritans’ vision of social equality did not extend to women, and their ideology placed the husband firmly at the head of the household. Which is what they wanted to preserve, and the only way of accomplishing this was by migrating elsewhere. Which in this case was the middle colonies. Once in the middle colonies, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania all became home to people of different origins, languages, and religions. Economic growth brought greater prosperity, along with conflicts between ordinary settlers and proprietors who tried to control access to land, resources, and political power. Between 1720 and 1770 the demand for wheat, corn, and flour doubled which led to conflict with the native americans because they were now a larger population.
( causation ) the cause of this was the fact that the Puritans were not in agreement of the rules in England and decided to leave and settle their own rules, so they moved towards the middle colonies. the effect of this was that the middle colonies now had more diverse groups of people, which ultimetly brought economic growth. not only that but it also led to conflict with the native population because they had invaded.
