The thread made alot of profit for Richard Arkwright
Many people came to work in RIchard Arkwright's factories
Richard Arkwright invented a machine which could spin good high quality thread very fast
It was started in 1769
Was started by a man called Richard Arkwright
Steam engines were used in the making of bricks, pottery, glass, beer, sugar, soap and iron
Coal was also used to power steam trains.
Alot of coal was needed in britain because there were many people with houses to heat, food to cook and factories also used them to power steam engines
Mine owners were making such a fortune from coal that they started to call it black gold
The children that worked in the factories were called pauper apprentices
Poor families didnt have money to send their children to school so they sent them to factories to work for money
The overseers in the factories were very strict
The domestic system involved everyone in the family. They made different products based on the area they were from.
One of the most popular goods from the domestic system was woolen cloth
Many parents had more children for money
The factories were very unhygienic
The children that worked their got beaten alot
Process
The family could work whatever hours they wanted as long as they met their deadlines
The clothier returns to collect the cloth and pays the family for what they have produced. He then gives them the wool for next weeks order and takes the cloth away to be dyed a different colour
The clothier takes the wool to the villagers who turn it into cloth
A clothier buys the wool from a farmer

Drawers push the loaded wagons towards the lift that takes them to the surface
MIners mine the coal
Trappers open and close trapdoors to let coal wagons pass by
Bearers take the sacks of coal away from the miners and put the lumps of coal into wagons.
