Pre-Assessment: Phonics, Rhyming, and Poetry - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Differentiation for higher students is they can use a list of more complex rhyming words and/or no list at all.
        
        Higher-level students will likely find the matches faster and can get more cards to find the pair as they go; students may also be asked to match a word card to a picture card.
- - - - Clay Word Making
        Students will form rhyming words using clay to help them visualize that rhyming words have the same ending.
        
        Rhyme Pair Scavenger Hunt
        Cards
        This activity lends itself nicely to differentiation because students will be given a new card to search for the pair once they have found the match to their last card. This hunt will last for roughly 10 minutes. Afterward, students will make a poster of the matches they found.
- - - - Students will be provided different templates for rhyming pairs (i.e. bed, wed) at first and then be asked to make the words on their own.
        
        Students will find matches to as many as they can, teacher will assist students as they search. Students will use only picture cards.
