Emotional Health
Emotional health is the way you recocginze and deal with your feelings
There are many ways to improve and mantain good emotional health
Expressing your emotions in words
rather than actions
Rather than hitting something if you are mad, tell someone that you are a bit frustrated, and that you need some support
Show self-control, and think before you act :
If you are about to hit someone in school, first think about the repercussions of the action, and think about what you would feel if you were in the other person's shoes
Deal with sadness appropriately
If you are sad
, don't cry perpetually, and don't bother others. Ask a family member or a peer for some support, and don't let the sadness take control of you
Mental Health
Mental health pertains to how you deal with and manage the demands of life
There are many signs that indicate if you are mentally healthy
Easily deals with stress
accepts new ideas
solves problems well
Having poor mental health can lead to many mental problems
Poor mental health can lead to PTSD (depression)
Poor mental health can lead to ADHD
Poor mental health can lead to being Bi-Polar (having sudden changes in mood)
Physical Health
Physical health is the physical condition of the body
The physical condition of the body can be improved in many ways:
Getting 8 hours of sleep improves physical health
Not getting enough sleep can detriment your mental and emotional health, by leaving you tired and worried
Eating a balanced diet improves physical health
Not eating a balanced diet can detriment your mental and emotional health, by leaving you tired and worried
Getting excercise and physical activity can improve physical health
Not doing drugs, alchohol, and tobacco can improves physical health :
Wellness
Wellenss is defined as a having good health and is achieved by balanced physical, emotional, mental, and social health
If you do not balance all four parts of health, you will not be functioning at your highest capacity

Heredity
Heredity: The passing of traits from parent (or family member) to you
A trait is a characteristic that a person has:
Height is a trait
Hair Color is a trait
Eye Color is a trait
Personality is a trait
Diseases (eg. diabetes) is a trait
Skin color is a trait
The passing of traits can affect your health
Diseases your relatives had can pass on to you
Diabetes can pass on to you through heredity
Diabetes is a condition that can be extremnely difficult to deal with, and limits the amout of glucose a person can eat
Cystic Fibrosis can pass on to you through heredity
Cystic Fibrosis is a disease that targets the lungs and digestive system
Cancer can pass on to you through heredity
Cancer is a life-threatening
Conditions your relatives had can pass onto you:
Weak eyesight can pass on to you through heredity
Anger problems can pass on to you through hereditytext
To stay stafe and learn about the conditions you may have, draw a family tree and write the conditions your family members had
Environment
Environment: Everything that is around you (even the things that aren't visible

Many things in the environment can affect your health:
Second hand smoke present in the air can affect your health
Large amounts of secondhand smoke can trigger an athsma attack, or weaken the lungs
The types of peers you are with can affect your health
Bad peers can influence your decisions, and cause you to do bad things (eg. do drugs)
The quality of water in the area you live in can affect your health
If water quality is poor in the area you live in, you might contract certain diseases from drinking the water (eg. cholera)
Diseases or viruses that are present in the area you live in can affect your health
If there are certain outbreaks of a virus in the place you live in, there is a chance you may contract the virus and become ill
The messages the media spreads can affect your health
The messages the media spreads can influence your decisions and cause you to buy certain products (that are actually bad for you)
To stay healthy, you can improve the environment you live in by doing many things:
Disposing trash helps the environment
This will make the area you live in cleaner, and thus less prone to viruses
Walking or using a bike helps the environment
This reduces the amount of carbon dioxide being emitted and thus improves air quality
Starting a recycling program helps the environment
This helps save natural recources, and can keep you proactive
Media
The media is a source of information
The information that the media spreads can be either positive or negative
The media can spread positive information by informing you about things that can benefit your health (like different foods you can eat that will benefit you)
The media can negatively influence you by advocating products that are bad for you
In today's world, there are many advertisements about coke being an excellent refreshener.
Coke, however, is very bad for you, as it had a lot of sugar
In today's world, there are many ads about products
that can help you lose weight
These products, however, can be both deceptive and dangerous
Generally, the media advocates a harmful product by showing someone gaining excellent physical capabilities after consuming the product
This can cause many people to buy and consume the harmful product
Relationships/peers
Your family members, friends, and peers influence you in many ways
They can influence you positively
Your friends/peers influence you positively by benefiting your social, emotional, and mental health
Friends/peers are good for your mental and emotional health because they can be people you can talk to if you are sad (the same applies for family members) :
Your friends are good for your social health because they are people you can interact with
your family influences you positively by teaching you about hygiene, exercise, and nutrition
Your parents influence you positively by teaching you how to take care of your health
Your peers influence you positively by encouraging you take take certain classes or activities
They can influence you negatively
Your peers can influence you negatively by encouraging you to smoke, do drugs, or have alchohol
Your peers can influence you negatively by encouraging you to do bad things (eg. skip class)
When choosing your friends, choose people who would have a positive influence on your health, and make sure to have a positive influence on others' health
