The Thoracic Muscles

Diaphragm
costal part, originates from the inferior six ribs and their costal cartilages.
lumbar part, originates from the lumbar vertebrae and their intervertebral discs .
sternal part, originates on the xiphoid process of the sternum.
aorta, along with the thoracic duct and azygous vein, which pass through the aortic hiatus – T12
esophagus with accompanying vagus (X) nerves, which pass through the esophageal hiatus – T10
inferior vena cava, which passes through the caval opening (foramen for the vena cava) – T8.

rectus abdominis muscle.

is covered by the rectus sheath, which is formed by the aponeuroses of lateral abdominal muscles.
