CLASSIFYING METALS
Metals can be classified as ferrous (containing or consisting of iron) or non-ferrous (does not contain iron)
Ferrous
Their main component is iron. Includes: pure iron, steel and cast iron.
Non-ferrous
They contain very little of iron. Includes: copper, bronze, luminium and zinc
PROPERTIES OF METALS
Metals are hard, non-adhesive, cold and very smooth.
Characteristics:

Good electrical,thernal and acoustic conductors
Melt ( liquefied by heat), they can also be used for welding
Temperature rises expand, when it cools: contracts
