Even though the workers started at different times, they all earned the same pay.

  1. It teaches us about God and his generosity to those who will come to him receive the same because he is a fair and just God.

God, in the position of the landowner, wants to teach us not to be jealous, because it doesn't matter when we turn to him.
it only matters that we do, because we realize he provides the best way to follow.

"He answered one of them, "Friend , I haven't been unfair! Take your money and go. I wanted to pay this last worker the same as you. Is it against the law for me to do what I want with my money? Should you be jealous because I am kind to others?" Matthew 20:13- 15

  1. When those hired at 5pm came, they got a full wage. When those who were hired at 3pm came, they were jealous of those who were hired at 5 because they still got a full wage one of them said, they protested that the 5 pm workers only worked for an hour while they worked for the whole day in the heat.
  1. Response: Friend, I haven't been unfair, Didn't you agree to work all day for the usual wage? Should you be jealous that I am kind to others?

Middle East Landowners were called "gentleman farmers" and they hired managers to give instructions to the dayworkers.
