New approach

Not novelty for the sake of it, however, as applying visual/low-power mag analysis and thin-sections to CBM too
Holistic approach to building materials in the region; e.g. movement of CBM into city connected with building stone transport away from the region?
To al lesser extent, did stone use and CBM interact with other local industries, e.g. coal mining?
Ultimately economic objectives are important, but I am hoping to explore the possible incorporation of local communities into building stone and CBM manufacture int the hinterland of Bath
This depends on a good understanding of the ceramics. What clay sources were being exploited? Were there tempering practices? What about firing conditions and control? How does this compare to IA daub and pottery from the area? Are there any indications that local potters could have been incoporated into Roman systems?

New as a chance to revisit the west of England in terms of CBM; SE mosty studied and in the west so much research has gone into Glos and Silchester etc. But Bath is a bit of a vacuum
Progress
Covid!
Obviously not been able to access collections as much as wanted, but have to say that RB curators have been excellent and very facilitating even in these difficult circumstances
