Prehistory (bloque 2)
They could make tools. They migrated from their original location in Ethiopia to other parts of Africa over two million years ago.
-
This species also inhabited eastern Africa about four million years ago. They walked upright and ate fruits, plants and even dead animals.
They lived in Europe during the Ice Age at the same time as the Homo sapiens, but died out around 25,000 years ago.
-
Modern humans belong to this species ,it spread all across the planet.
A straight spinal column, long leg bones and a wide pelvis are typical of hominids that walked on two feet.
Utensils and the remains of fires appear near the bones. Walking on two feet freed their hands and allowed opposable thumbs to evolve. This increased their manual skills and allowed them to create tools.
The larynx also transformed as a result of walking on two feet. This allowed them to develop speech.
