Nucleic Acids, ATP, double helix model, 3 types of RNA, one polynucleotide…
Nucleic Acids
-
RNA (ribonucleic acid)
Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine, URACIL
-
-
:star: found in cytoplasm and ribosomes of prokaryotes and :star: in nucleus, cytoplasm, ribosome, mitochondria and chloroplasts of eukaryotes
-
specialized for the storage, transmission and use of information
-
-
ATP
-
-
made of C,H,O,N and P atoms
-
-
Consists of adenine base, ribose sugar and 3 phosphate groups.
ATP energy cannot be stored in cells, stored in high energy phosphate bonds
ATP production is phosphorylation (adding phosphate group), whereas consumption is dephosphorylation (removing phosphate group).
-
-
3 types of RNA
-
messenger(RNA)
carries messages coded in DNA (from nucleus to the ribosomes, where protein synthesis takes place)
-
-
-
pyrimidine
Cytosine, Thymine, Uracil
