Chapter 11: Energy Metabolism: Photosynthesis, Crosslink Connection: After…
-
Crosslink Connection: After a tree is cut down it will stop photosynthesizing and stop removing carbon from the atmosphere. As it decays and decomposes it will be oxidized back into carbon dioxide increasing the CO2 in the air.
Crosslink Connection: Many kelps grow deep in the ocean and receive mostly green and light. Their pigments absorb these wavelengths and therefore the appear yellow-brown to us.
Crosslink Connection: Epithelantha live in environments where sunlight is extremely intense. Their thick spines are so abundant and close together that they shade and protect the chlorophyll from being damaged.
