TOPIC 13 SCIENCE AND INDUSTRIAL ADVANCES
THE RAILWAY CHANGES TO THE WORLD
The railroad was a very important change since the agricultural revolution took place at that time, but the animals or cars pulled by them were only limited to the local or regional, for markets or fairs while the railroad was in charge of the large long-distance trips transporting valuable goods, with professional carriers and armed guard because the tracks were unsafe.
THE INVENTION OF THE RAILROAD
The invention of the railway was due to the need to transport coal from a mine, at first it was done by animals or men pushing, but George Stephenson in 1814, created a machine with coal steam, which dragged more than 30T at 7Km / h. they were improved until a railway line was opened to transport coal from the Stockton mine to the port of Darlington.
THE STEAMBOATS
Robert Fulton was an American engineer who invented and improved the steamboat, although we know that the steamboat revolutionized the way people traveled on water. The steamboat was created in 1803, steamboats were used more because they were faster than the old ships. Thanks to this, new communities were established in Mississippi and other rivers.
The first successful test of the steamboat was carried out on the Delaware River on August 22, 1787 by Jonh Fich, in front of members of the United States Constitutional Convention.
THE EXACT SCIENCES
During the nineteenth century science was more practiced that produced great advances in physics. Faraday, Ohm and others studied electricity and magnetism, these studies led Maxwell to unify the two phenomena in a single theory that is electromagnetism. Antoine Lavoisier is the father of modern chemistry, having managed to establish the existence of oxygen and the law of conservation of the Massa. John Dalton developed in 1803 the theory that all matter was composed of atoms, the smallest components. Discovered and based, Dimitri Mendeleev composed the periodic table in 1869.
PASTEUR REVOLUTIONIZES
MEDICINE
The greatest revolution in medicine was thanks to Louis Pasteur. He discovered a lot of preventive measures but he also discovered the most important of the vaccine in 1880, development for diseases that were treated through milk or other foods.
CHARLES DARWIN
REVOLUTIONIZES BIOLOGY
Charles Darwin is more recognized for his book and research that the evolution that gives rise to how spices survive through natural selection than those that adapt to where they live will survive to pass their adaptations on to their children. He discovered new things when he took a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
