COMPARTMENT SYNDROME
-
DEFINITION
critical pressure increase within a confined compartmental space- restricting the blood flow to the area and potentially damaging the muscles and nearby nerves

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
- when bleeding/swelling occurs within compartment , the pressure of intra-compartmental rise
- Ischemis ( lack of 02) starts when local blood flow cannot fulfill metabolic demands od tissue
- death of tissue if body part do not flow with blood more than 8 hours
- the pressure increase 30 mmHg , blood vessel compress, lead to pain and decreased blow flow
- lymphatic drainage activate - prevent high pressure interstitial fluid
-lymphatic drainage reach max , presssure within compartmental can cause physiological defects
