Zinc and HCl Pre-Lab Flow Chart
Review safety and first aid protocols
Put on Lab Coat and safety goggles and collect materials
Weigh 250 mL beaker and record mass in Experimental Results.
Add mossy zinc to the beaker, weigh and record the mass.
Add 50 mL of 1M HCl to the beaker and record qualitative observations.
Allow Zn and HCl react for 15-20 minutes.
Dilute the acid by slowly adding 200 mL of water and decanting twice.
Record qualitative observations about the reaction
Remove zinc from beaker and place it on paper towel.
