Every year thousands of new businesses are setup in the UK, but at the same time, unfortunately, thousands of existing business collapse. Between 2003 and 2007 failures were below 20,000 per annum.However, after they peaked in 2009 at around 26,000 the annual rate of failure was around 24,000.
