Moral Mind Map
-
elementary school
I attended St. Bede Catholic School from kindergarten to eighth grade; I was raised learning Catholicism.
-
At St. Bede, we were required to take classes on Catholicism and attend mass on holy days of obligation.
country
Although the USA does not require all citizens to believe in God, there are many references to God in American law.

-
friends
-
-
Throughout high school, I met more friends who held other religious beliefs and different senses of morality.
church
I live very near to St. Bede Catholic Church, so my mom brings me there for mass every weekend.
-
I still attend mass there every weekend and even play piano for their vigil masses every other Saturday, so St. Bede has always been a major part of my life.
culture
I am fully Filipino, but I was born and raised in the USA.
Filipino culture is largely centered on Catholic devotions, such as Simbang Gabi and the Sinulog Festival. American culture taught me to be accepting towards different religions.
high school environment
My high school still focused on Catholicism; for example, they hold masses for all students and base their pillars on Father Moreau, who was Catholic.
-
home city
-
There are many churches of different branches of Christianity, so I grew up surrounded by the influence of the Christian God.
teachers
My high school teachers also believed in God, but they also acknowledged and respected people of other religions.
-
media
During my childhood, I watched lots of children’s movies that promoted doing good for others.
As I got older, I learned about the more complex sides of morality through books and shows.
