Electron Microscope
-
-
-
Electrons do not have a colour spectrum like visible light; they can only be viewed in black and white.
Enzymes
-
Enzymes catalyse most chemical reactions that happen in cells; respiration, protein synthesis, photosynthesis.

Cells
Cell size
-
-
Size of subcellular structure is important. mitochondria and chloroplasts vary in sizes. The complexity of a mitochondrion dictates how active a cells is. Chloroplast size varies from one species to another. Scientists investigate ratio of the area of cytoplasm to that of a nucleus. A higher ratio of cytoplasmic :nuclear volume indicates whether the cell is about to divide. A low one may be a characteristic of a cancer cell.

DNA
DNA is a polymer
A polymer made up of several repeating units called nucleotides. Each nucleotide consists of a sugar called deoxyribose and a phosphate group. Each base is attached to the sugar molecule.
