Modes of Connection
wired - ethernet, fibre optic, twisted pair copper - reasonable secure and you can connect as many devices as you want
wireless - wifi, Bluetooth - less secure and you can't be too far away from your router - 100m

WAN
Wide area network - these are big geographical area, it connects LAN's together, WAN's are connected with telephone wires, optic cables or satellite links
LAN
Local area network - describes a small geographical area, lets all computers connect to each other
PAN
Personal area network - Covers large geographical areas, most common communication technology used in a PAN in Bluetooth (very short range - 10m)
