The special education process in my classroom

Step 1.
Identification
Finding the children who may be eligible for special education or related services
Submitting a written request to the principal for a Full Individual Evaluation
Waiting for the school's decision to offer a written notice to the parent/guardian
Approve - Go to
Step 2
Not Approve - Keep Observing and submit an application again after 1 month if the student is in need
Step 2.
Assessment Planning Process
Asking for the parent/guardian's written consent
Scheduling an assessment planning meeting within 14 school days of receiving the approval for an evaluation

Step 3.
Evaluations
Offering copies of the draft evaluations 3 school days prior to the eligibility meeting to parents/guardians
the IEP team finishes the initial evaluation in one month after receiving parents/guardians' written approvement
Step 4.
Eligibility Meeting
the IEP team (including the parent/guardian) meets to review the evaluation results and determine whether the student is eligible for special education and/or related services

If yes, the team develops an
Individualized Education Program (IEP)

step 5

If not, I will make an
individual learning support(ISP)
record for the student by myself only used in my class
Step 5.
Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
The IEP team (including the parent/guardian) meets to develop the student’s IEP
A copy of the draft IEP will be provided to the parents/guardians school days prior to the meeting
The IEP identifies the student’s unique needs and describes how the school will address those needs
The IEP establishes goals and identifies the supplementary aids, supports and services to allow the student to meet those goals
The student’s IEP will be reviewed by the IEP team at least once per year.
Step 6.
IEP Report Cards
IEP Report Cards will be provided quarterly to inform parents/guardians about the student’s progress towards the annual IEP goals
