Panama Canal Treaties
El Tratado Hay Bunau Varilla transformaba a Panamá en un protectorado de Estados Unidos al tiempo que enajenaba el territorio nacional.

The U.S. was granted all rights, power and authority in the zone.
lThe Republic of Panama was excluded from any activity within the Zone. That is to say, in practice, it became U.S. territory: Perico Island, Culebra, Naos, Flamenco were part of the Cana Zone..
The 1904 Constitution
The National Constituent Assembly composed of conservatives and liberables met in December 1903 to draft the constitution.
The first National Constitution promulgated in 1904 was inspired by the purely conservative Colombian Constitution. It demilitarized the Republic.

National Law School
In 1918, the government of the Republic, through its Secretary of Public Instruction, became interested in higher education.
On January 25, 1918, the School of Law was created (Decree # 7).
