Fear of Communism, Lots of info from the children; shows mom very probably…
Fear of Communism
Good Night and Good Luck
-
Fear ripples throughout the people in the Movie when ever they would interact with McCarthy, as when Edward Murrow said he would air the would pay out of pocket for the Airing, the entirety of CBS still got scared
-
Fear of Betrayal, as many people throughout the movie would sell each other out just to alleviate any chance of them being accused of being a communist
-
Fear Of Knowledge, as in when they find out McCarthy is a fraud, or when someone is accused of having ties with communisis but is seen in the Movie as Finding Out.
McCarthy made baseless accusations with no proof, yet people still believed him without question
The Crucible
The Judge acts kind of like McCarthy in the sense that he makes false, outrages, claims in order to convict people because he was afraid of losing credibility.
In both cases people were afraid of speaking up because of possibly being labeled as a witch/communist
McCarthy started to lose credibility after accusing top officials similar to how when Abigail accused some of the top people in the town and people began to question her.
Both in Good Night and Good Luck and the Crucible people who were accused were forced name other witches/communists and they would often lie and point fingers to others.
-
Some people accused others of being witches for their own gain such as taking others land. This relates to how some people would
