Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was an American novelist and writer, widely known as one of the greatest American authors of the 20th century, whose works are paradigmatic of the Jazz Age. Fitzgerald is considered a member of the Lost Generation of the twenties.

Characters:
Jay Gatsby: Jay Gatsby is a central figure in the novel, and his character symbolizes the American Dream of wealth, glamour, and success. He is a romantic idealist who is ultimately unable to achieve his dream.
Daysi Buchanan: Daisy’s cousin and a minor character in The Great Gatsby. Daysi is introduced in Chapter 3 of the novel, when she joins Daisy, Tom, and Nick for lunch at the Buchanans’ home.
Myrtle Wilson: She is the wife of George Wilson, who owns a car repair shop and sells cars, and she is the mistress of Tom Buchanan.
Jordan Baker: He was a professional golfer of questionable integrity.
Nick Carraway: As Daisy Buchanan's cousin, he facilitates the rekindling of the romance between her and Gatsby. The Great Gatsby is told entirely through Nick's eyes; his thoughts and perceptions shape and color the story.
Tom Buchanan: In the novel The Great Gatsby, Toms role is of the powerful, reckless, controlling, and cheating husband to Daisy Buchanan. Tom is of the upper class, he is proud of his old money, of where he lives, and his white race.
Meyer Wolfsheim: He was an underworld figure, who associates with gangsters such as Rosy Rosenthal and is involved in various illegal activities.
George B. Wilson: George was the owner of a run-down gas station and auto shop in the '"valley of ashes"', located between Eggs and New York City.
Henry Gatz: He was Jay Gatsby's father, his biological father.
Plot: The story mainly concerns the young and mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby, his quixotic passion and obsession with the beautiful former debutante Daisy Buchanan.
