- - - - All the water and energy used to cultivate, harvest, transport, and package the food is wasted when we throw it away.
      - In the US alone, the production of lost or wasted food generates the equivalent of 32.6 million cars’ worth of greenhouse gas emissions.
    - - An estimated 45 trillion gallons, or 24% of all water used for agriculture, are wasted annually globally.
      - It takes about 8 to 10 times more water to produce meat than grain.
      - Water is essential for life and agriculture, used for growing crops, feeding animals, etc. 70% of the world’s freshwater is used for agriculture.
    - - Land is wasted both for production
        and retaining thrown away food.
      - A third of agricultural land in the world, or around 1.4 billion hectares, is used to produce food that is wasted.
      - Ecosystems and biodiversity are also destroyed in order to provide area for producing food and retaining wasted food
        
        As an effect, living organisms begin to become rare, sometimes to the point of extinction.

      - Therefore, when food is wasted, the oil used to make them is also wasted
