    - - Alcoholics Anonymous was created in 1939. This created a doorway to helping people with mental illness rather than banishing them from their families or punishing them for bad habits. AA allowed for the creation of rehab for not only alcoholics but also for drug addicts and other sorts. This was a huge step in America because it is still being utilized today.
  - - - O'dell, author of Surviving Uselessness opened the American mind to how unplugging ourselves and doing absolutely nothing can better our population. Today many people are consumed by the flashiness of our phones and the opportunities within however it is what we consider as doing nothing. We scroll through news and media platforms out of boredom and justify it as doing "nothing" the reality is that we are still doing something but that something can ruin us. We need to refocus on what nothing actually is.

        Martin Luther King Jr. is an influential character in America. He brought forth the beginning of equality amoungst races and changed America for the better. His speech anf letter influenced officials to oversee laws and put an end to segregation.
  - - - The Chinese Excllusion Act of 1882: Act excludes Chinese immigrants working in America, people brining Chinese immigrants are charged with a misdemeanor and other crimes and fined for every person on their vessel of travel.

        Fitzgerald thought the jazz era was an eyeopening experience especially for the ederly. The new style and fashion taking over the strongest nation. People becoming more free to do as they please along with the improvement of Civil Rights.
