Age 35-36: Working at various Online English companies, as well as examining for ESL exams.
Moved back to Cape Breton, NS
Started to take courses at MUN to hopefully be accepted to the MEd in Counselling.
Currently identify as pan-demi-sexual- I feel more confident in my sexuality and how it contributes to my sense of self, but still face fears of expression in the community or within the family.
Age 31: Offered temporary position with the British Council in Sri Lanka. I became an IELTS speaking examiner.
Age 33: Moved to Hungary, ESL work with the British Council.

Moved to Sri Lanka for 2.5 years
Moved back to Budapest Hungary for 2 years
Began to complete advanced ESL teacher training (Trinity DipTESOL, similar to a PGC). Finished in the middle of the pandemic.
Also completed a specialized Very Young Learner Certification program online during the pandemic
My mum was diagnosed with breast and lung cancer. The need to come home became more apparent.
Age 25-29: Worked in Hungary and Korea in ESL (Korea was a kindergarten teaching position).
Age 30-31: Unemployed traveller.
Had my first ESL summer camp position in the UK. Fell in love with the UK, and became desperate to return.
Moved to Seoul, South Korea for 2 years to teach
After 2 years of living in South Korea, I took a year off to travel South East Asia and the UK (Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, England, Scotland, Ireland).
Started to look into courses in counselling, psychology, and helping therapies online. Began researching UK counselling therapy programs and Canadian counselling therapy programs.
Realized bi-sexual didn't fit exactly as a label: discovered demi-sexuality when researching an LGBTQIA+ training session for staff.
Age 21: Graduated Mount Allison, no job, no idea what to do. Was accepted to a Master's program in German at the University of Manitoba. Quickly discovered it wasn't a good fit, and went back to Cape Breton.
Age 21: Found a job at a call centre, and a book store. Loved the book store, hated the call centre.
Age 22: Applied for an ESL teaching position 'just to see.' Was offered the job, and took it. Worked in Indonesia and Ukraine
After living in Winnipeg Manitoba for a few months, I moved back to Cape Breton when University finished. Stayed in Cape Breton for a year.
Moved to Waterloo, ON to go back to school, and to be close to university friends
Moved to Jakarta, Indonesia for 1 year
Moved to Donetsk, Ukraine for 9 months

Obtained ESL teacher training certification in Budapest.
Began therapy for the first time.
Age 18: Applied for Bachelor of Arts degrees in either Psychology or International Affairs.
Age 18: Accepted to Mount Allison University for International Relations degree, hated the bulk of my courses, switched to Psychology and hated the medical model/biology focus of my intro class
Age 19: Changed my major to English literature as I felt comfortable and competent there
Age 20: added German as a double major, as I enjoyed the course and felt competent and comfortable in the second language classroom. Had the opportunity to go to Germany for the summer to study, and loved the country and the courses.
Parents moved to Cape Breton to retire. I went to University on the East Coast to be close to them.
Briefly visited Germany (Marburg) on a study abroad trip in my 3rd year of university.
Came out to friends and family as bi-sexual. Was told it might be better to stay in the closet by family.
Age 10- I told my mum I wanted to be a Psychologist to help people with their problems
Age 13: A teacher said I was a natural actor, and I should look into drama classes.
Age 14: A teacher suggested that I wouldn't be able to be a psychologist because 'there's a lot of science involved in that and you don't like science,' despite taking advanced science classes at the time.
CAREER EDUCATION CLASS: Age 15: took countless assessments, consistently placing me in social, legal, caring/helping professions. Friends were either going to be doctors or lawyers, so I decided I would go to law school or become a Foreign Affairs Consulate Advisor because I liked to travel
Moved to St. Catharines, ON due Grandmother's death. Went to Catholic extended elementary (until Grade 9), then Catholic High School (graduated with honours)
Realized I was probably gay/bi-sexual but was terrified of the concept, so ignored/intentionally crushed any acknowledgement of my sexuality
Age 6: Kindergarten Career Day: I dressed up as a 'comedian'.
Age 4: Pre- Kindergarden. I wanted to be a nurse.
Lived in Mill Cove, NS. Went to a small Kindergarten, small pre-K, and small/medium Elementary school until Grade 2.
Moved to Calgary, AB when my Dad's military base closed and he retired from the Air Force. Attended Catholic Elementary schools. Moved mid school year Grade 3: missed out on division and multiplication in the switch
