Vavlves tricuspid, pulmonary, and pulmonary artey
Layers of the heart
myocardium
endocardium
Epicardium
ABO, Rh blood types
B blood type
AB blood type
A blood type
O blood type
Major functions of the cardiovascular system
delivers oxygen
hormones
nutrients
protect the body from infection and blood loss
Major components and functions of Blood
Red Blood Cells: Carries oxygen from our lungs to the rest of our bodies.
White Blood Cells: Help the body fight infection and other diseases.
Plasma: Helps body recover from injury, distributes nutrients, throughout your circulatory system.
Platelets: Small colorless cells in our blood that form clots and stop or prevent bleeding.
Major blood vessels (names arteries and veins)
Aorta and Pulmonary trunk send blood out to the heart.
Pumonary veins, superior vena cava and inferior vena cava carry blood into you heart.
Blood flow through the heart and body
Blood goes through the right atrium moves into the right ventricle and is pushed into the pulmonary arteries in the lungs. After picking up the oxygen the blood travels back to the heart through the pulmonary veins into the left atrium to the left ventricle and out the body through the aorta.
Disorders of the cardiovascular system
Peripheral arterial disease
aortic disease
Stroke
Coronary heart disease
Vital signs (BP and Pulse)
Body Temperature
Blood pressure
Can be checked with a cuff to but pressure on your arm to be able to measure it.
Pulse rate
Can be checked on wrist with two fingers placed on a vein.
