Animal and Plant cells
Plant Cells
Structure
Permanent vacuole - space in the cytoplasm filled with cell sap, which is important in keeping the cell rigid to maintain support
-
-
Chloroplasts - contain chlorophyll which is used to produce food when light is absorbed during photosynthesis.
-
-
Animal Cells
Structure
Mitochondria - structure in the cytoplasm where aerobic respiration takes place to release energy for the cell
Ribosomes - where protein synthesis takes place, making all of the proteins needed for the cell
Nucleus - controls all cell activity and contains the genes on the chromosomes that are needed to make proteins.
Cell membrane - controls the passage and movement of substances into and out of the cell: eg. glucose and mineral ions in and urea and hormones out.
