Collision Theory
Collision Frequency - The more collisions between particles, the faster the rate of reaction. So doubling the frequency of collisions would double the rate.
Collision Energy - Enough energy needs to be transferred in a collision to overcome the activation energy and break the bonds to start the reaction.
Equilibrium
The equilibrium can only be reached when a reversible reaction takes place in a closed system (Where nothing can enter or leave)
-
Catalysts - They speed up reactions without being used up by providing an alternative pathway for the reaction. Different reactions need different catalysts.
Endothermic - Reaction absorbs energy (makes the temperature colder)
Exothermic - Energy is released into the surrounding (makes it hotter)
