The goal of summative assessment is to evaluate student learning at the end of an instructional unit by comparing it against some standard or benchmark. Summative assessments are often high stakes, which means that they have a high point value.What Is the Difference Between Formative and Summative Assessment? Summative assessments don't have to be super serious exams, because they don't always show off everyone's skills. Here are examples of different kinds of summative assessments:
Performance Assessments - Interactive tasks and activities that allow students to showcase their abilities. These are particularly useful for performance-based subjects such as drama and music
