Decreasing/Increasing
Decreasing: Decrease by 58%, do 100%-58% (1.00-0.58), which equals 42% (0.42), so you find 42% of your number
Increasing: Increase by 12%, do 100%+12%, which equals 112%, so find 112% of your number
Keywords
Equivalent: of equal value.
Reduce: to make smaller in value.
Fraction: a fraction represents how many parts of a whole value you have.
Growth: to increase/ to grow.
Decimal: a number in our base 10 number system. Numbers to the right of the decimal place are called decimals.
Integer: whole number, can be positive, negative or zero.
Percent: parts per 100 – written using the % symbol.
Invest: use money with the goal of it increasing in value over time (usually in a bank).
