SUMER began to decline because of war. Kingdoms rose in the north and Syria. kingdoms became empires, new empires brought new cultures.
Sargon Sargon was the ruler of Akkad and he was a very ambitious leader. He conquered the rest of Sumerian states. Sargon formed the first world's empire and he was the king of Sumer and Akkad. He extended his empire and took over the rest of Mesopotamia. Sargon's empire lasted for 200 years they were call Akkadians.
Hammurabi In 1800s bc Amorites conquered Mesopotamia and built their own city-states. Babylonia was the greatest city. Babylon was located on the eastern bank of Euphrates river.He started to conquered cites controlled by Amorites.
Hammurabi's code Hammurabi is best know for creating laws for his empire. His code dealt with crimes and what happened with crops and other punishments and other things that happened in Babylonia. But his code was stricter than the old Sumerian laws. Like for example one of his laws was how serious your crime was is how made your punishment is. But some the laws protected the weak like it stop husband's from abusing their wives.

Assyrian EmpireThe Assyrian empire formed 1,000 years after the empire of Hammurabi.The built a really strong army. and it extended in to 4 country's Syria, Turkey, Iran, and Iraq. in 900bc their army took over the rest of Mesopotamia.
the Assyrian army The army was trained very well and it was numbered to about 50,000 solider's. The Assyrian army's robbed, set crops on fire, and destroyed towns and dams/Leeves. They forced people to pay taxes from conquered people. Rumors of the Assyrians brutally spread. most people surrender to the Assyrians with no fighting because they were so terrified of them. The key thing that the Assyrians had was iron weapons. Most used copper or tin because they didn't know about how iron is stronger than both.
Kings and Government It went from the Persian Gulf to the Nile river. The Assyrian kings must be powerful because they have to be so they can rule over that much land. They divided the empire into Provinces. Each government built their own roads, taxes, and lastly they had laws for each provinces.
the life of Assyrians they had their laws but they were harsher. They built temples and places and painted cave paintings. They built the first library in Nineveh that held tablets stories and songs for their gods. they collected supply from far away like metal and wood so their empire could build tools and weapons.
The Chaldean Empire fights broke out about who would be the next Assyrian ruler. But a group called Chaldean took power. For 300 years the Assyria ruled area of the Persian gulf.
A New Empire they Chaldeans hated the harsh rules that the Assyrians had so they were never under their rules. The king of the Chaldean wanted to take his land back. In 627 b.c. the king of the Chaldean decide to lead a revolt against the Assyrians.
A new empire pt.2 The Chaldean forced the Assyrians out of Uruk and the Named Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylonia. Then Chaldean Burned the Assyrians capital Nineveh to the ground. Later on the Chaldeans claimed almost all of the land.
The greatness of Babylonia Nebuchadnezzar rebuilt Babylonia and he built a large brick wall to protect his city-state. And solider's guarded it. He also built a ziggurat and designed it like where his wife lived and it was beautiful. He also built a road that people could walk by it was a beautiful road and in the spring they would bring a statue out and they would all go to see it
fall of the empire When Nebuchadnezzar died the empire got weak, poor harvest and slow trades. The Persians saw that the empire was weak so they decided to take over and capture the land but when they did capture it they didn't destroy the culture or buildings.
