Procedure: they were interviewed for affectionless psychopathy and their families were interviewed to establish if they had experienced prolonged separations Compared to control group
Findings: found that 14/44 could be described as affectionless psychopaths and 12/14 experienced prolonged separations from their mothers

Flawed Evidence
Bowlbys study is lawed because he conducted both the interviews with the theives and the parents and this could mean he became subject to bias
Goldfarbs research on wartime children was flawed because it had the problem of confounding variables: other factors such as trauma could be affecting the results
COUNTERPOINT: Levy et al (2003) is newer research showing that separating baby rats from their mothers for as little as a day had permanent effects on social development

Intellectual development: If children are deprived then they will experience delayed intellectual development
