Campaigning
Posters
-
Posters are informative, interesting and eye catching they are the perfect way to advertise a protest.
Seminars
Seminars are a way to inform the more dedicated audience about the issue, it is even a way to introduce more people too the problem. Posting the link on the social media pages allows anyone to join. Enabling the webinar setting on most online meetings will only allow the host to speak and the other to only use the chat.
Petetion
Websites like Change.org allow you to create petitions and collect signatures or votes of those who support your petition worldwide. With over 50 million people already taking action it would be a great way to kickstart a protest.
These petitions that succeed often get put up on newspapers, go to the proper local and government authorities
Flyers
Handing out flyers is another way to test who is interested or not because only those who take the flyers would be interested.
Social media
Facebook
Facebook is a way to reach the older audiences between 20 - 40 years of age can be targeted. Instagram has a feature to directly upload the same stories and posts made on Instagram to Facebook. We can nail two birds with one stone.
Twitter
Since Twitter is more based on short messages, it would be a tool to spread knowledge about the issue.
Twitter is a platform where not only citizens but also countries and leaders of the world communicate about different topics, issues, or changes.
Instagram
-
Creating an Instagram account allows direct access to communicate with people interested in the protest
Instagram reels have a great feature of being shared to anyone on Instagram if the reel is created by a public account. This feature could help us spread more awareness about the situation in lesser time.
Risk Factor
Online
The risks with online are many such as people filing police complaints against certain things you say so have to watch your language, conduct and limits in online. There are also unpredictable people who might just take the words and learnings and take to the street to protest by gathering their own crowd and having an un-organised protest.
Real Life
In real life the risk factor is increased due to the fact that people could get violent and try and forcefully enter the government building like in the USA when they stormed the Capital Building. In real life nothing can be deleted and words can't be taken back, so any inappropriate language used would cause a major backlash.
Setting
Online
In an online atmosphere people can be more unpredictable and do as they whish rather than it be more organised
-
Real Life
there is more chance of the protest becoming violent and turning into a riot or a massacre. Having people under control will prove to be a challenge.
In real life it's easier to make an impact and collect people for the protest. An issue would a comfortable time.
finding a suitable location for the protest to take place would also be a difficult job given the hostility of police toward protesters.
