Discussion text functionates to criticize/discuss an issue from various points of view.
There are many examples of conjunctions. One of the categories is contradictive conjunctions. Examples of contradictive conjunctions are even though, though, or although.
In a discussion text, comprehensive and in-depth arguments become the essence of an issue that is discussed. Arguments used as evidence. So, in an argument, there should be facts.
When you make a discussion text, you need to: (1) introduces the topic or issue first; (2) thinks about arguments on both parties (pros and cons); (3) concludes or recommendates as the results from both arguments.
A song is a piece of music with words that are sung. Song intends to show someone's feelings in every moment. A song could be categorized as a literary work as it contains aesthetics. Aesthetics are shown in many figurative languages. Figurative languages cause songs to become attractive, create freshness, more lively, and raises clarity of vision.
Discussion text has some language features, for example:
- Technical words or terms that exist in topic that is discussed;
- Conjunctions or connectives to create logical sentences or paragraphs;
- Uses nominal singular and plural precisely (with or without a, an, the, those, these, etc.)
Structures:
main clause + (even though/though/although + subject + predicate)
example: William still plays games until midnight though his parents have reminded him over and over again.
What are the differences?
- Although is a subordinate conjunction that used to express contrast in (mostly) written English.
- Even though is a subordinate conjunction that is more formal emphatical than though or although.
- Though is a subordinate conjunction that used to express contrast in (mostly) spoken English.
Review text is a type of text that aims to review a work, such as movies, books, or other objects, and determines the quality, advantages, and disadvantages of the works.
Review text could be an appreciation or criticism. However, it must be known that appreciation cannot include critics. Otherwise, criticism can include appreciation of the works.
The generic structure of the review text consists of (1) orientation (place of its general context); (2) interpretative recount (the work's summary); and (3) evaluation (paragraphs to evaluate the work).
Language features:
- Using the present tense;
- Many use the adjective (the word carpenter) like, bad, good, valuable, etc.;
- Frequent use of long clauses (clause length) and complex;
- Using the contrastive conjunction like although, even though, or though.
The social function of songs is for entertaining, express feelings, and deliver moral value.

Bob Dylan (born on May 24th, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter who won the Literature Nobel Prize in 2016. He is the only singer who won the Nobel Prize as his songs have created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.
