Christian Education
What is education?
Education is a continuous stream between the past, the present, and the future because it embodies past discoveries, present explorations, and applications that have not came yet.
If not careful, we easily can forget the purpose of having core education. It is to provide fundamental thinking skills.
It can also be forgotten to include this in Christian colleges. This happens when they forget to have orthodoxy (right thinking about God) and orthopraxy (right actions towards others) as their main focus.
People tend to look at education for the purpose of getting a job. This would be considered as a form of technical education. However, in the past, it was looked at for the pure sake of learning more.
Education was all about developing one's character, mind, and soul instead of just getting creditals for a job.
Education's purpose is to teach people how to think critically, rationally, and intellectually.
We must be sure not to just think of education as being an efficient way to get the job we desire. If we do this, it loses its very purpose and reason because we would not have morals.
Educational systems must be careful to ensure that they are producing an environment that teaches morals and grows ethics.
General education is made up of a set of core courses that are supposed to be the very foundation of education. This is what Western education is rooted in.
Christ's Lordship
-
It is vital that Christian colleges are united in their teachings so that they can show how everything is connected.
Learning from a Christian perspective allows for people to see the expansiveness of Christian tradition and the influence it has had on culture.
This allows us to fully understand our faith and to live it out with our hearts, minds, and souls.
Learning about Christ and remembering that truth can only be found in Him is the only way that we can truly glorify God.
Liberal Arts
Liberal arts and citizenship are connected slowly together. Liberal arts refer to being free to think, communicate, and lead. These skills were thought to only be useful for free men (citizens) and not slaves.

The spoils of Egypt were the main thing that founded the formation of the Western traditions in academic education.

As Christians, it is important that we understand the need for higher education and that we study core courses. If we do not bind our foundation to the Lordship of Christ, we will not be able to truly learn what is right and what is wrong. So, for the formation of our souls, we must be sure to integrate Christian learning into our technical educations. If we do this, we will grow our intellectual empathy and be able to understand and help people better. This will also help us to refine our hearts and align them with Jesus.
