GENERAL DISCUSSION

Human Cloning
Why we do human cloning?
Human cloning might be undertaken for two general purposes. One potential use would be to produce children who would be genetically virtually identical to pre-existing individuals. Another would be to produce cloned embryos for research or therapy.
Because the risks associated with reproductive cloning in humans introduce a very high likelihood of loss of life, the process is considered unethical. There are other philosophical issues that also have been raised concerning the nature of reproduction and human identity that reproductive cloning might violate. Even if the process can be refined by the scientist to the point of it is 100% safe to clone a human, there's no shortage of new people being produced through normal biological means, so are we producing the clone for spare parts aka harvesting the organ or as part of a scientific experiment to see whether it can be done which is nothing more to polish the said scientist's vanity?
Benefits of organ donation
gifting lives
can save many lives
helping in scientific research
Drawbacks of organ donation
organ rejection from receiver
risk of infection
Organ donation
One person can save eight lives and enhance 75 others through organ, eye and tissue donation
Anyone can sign up to be an organ and tissue donor except those suffering from infectious diseases such as HIV- AIDS, hepatitis B and C, and syphilis
Organ donation type
:
Living donation
Deceased donation
Tissue donation
pediatric donation
Reception of the organ donation in Malaysia
:
still awareness among the Malaysians and only small numbers of people actually have undergone organ transplant surgery in Malaysia. only 2,700 transplant cases involving donated organs have been performed since 1975 according to MMOH.
Reception of the organ donation in Anglophone countries
The majority of Americans—95% are in favor of organ donation and over 58% of them are registered as one.
Comparison in organ donation between the Anglophone and Malaysia
more widespread in western and anglophone countries since their community is more open to the idea rather than Malaysia because of conservative cultural beliefs and religion. Even among Asian Americans, they have the lowest organ donation registration rates in the United States, and the reason for this is incompletely understood but probably because of the same reason.
Future Human and Ethics
Ethics
Research Ethics is about norms, values, right and wrong, good and bad, and what ought and ought not to be done in the context of research
In WW2, sterilization experiments were conducted at Auschwitz, Ravensbrück, and other places by Carl Clauberg. The purpose of these experiments was to develop a method of sterilization which would be suitable for sterilizing millions of people with a minimum of time and effort.
Ethics is important for any experimentation as it dictate us to act within the boundaries of what is considered as humane.
Future Human
Human that have their genetic modified to make sure that they only have the desirable characteristics only
Graham the man who is designed by the leading surgeon and a road safety engineer as a human that is anatomically immune to car accident injury.
Many experiments have been done to artificially modified the human gene to make sure that the future humans will only the favorable traits.
This is had its own pro which is reducing the number of "bad" gene that cause some of us to suffer from the genetic defects that reduce quality of life however the con is gene editing is still imprecise, which could lead to inadvertent and undesirable changes to a genome. There are also concerns regarding the unknown long-term safety of the gene editing.
Social Organization
Social Relationship
Having and maintaining social relationships brings us not only rewards, but certain costs as well. These might include sacrificing some much-needed alone time in order to maintain a relationship, drawing on your emotional reserves when a friend needs support, and spending money for entertainment that you might not otherwise have spent. In general, we find these costs worth the friendship.
Having a relationship is a 2-way process. we give and we received. But whether what we received is in proportionate to what we done is largely dependent on what type of relationship we have.
Individual vs social expectation
Collectivism stresses the importance of the community, while individualism is focused on the rights and concerns of each person. Where unity and selflessness or altruism are valued traits in collectivist cultures, independence and personal identity are promoted in individualistic culture.
Anglophone countries will be more toward individualism
Malaysians, according to social psychologist Gerard Hendrik Hofstede, are collectivistic in nature. As opposed to an individualistic culture, where people look after themselves, a collectivistic culture like ours gives importance to a group, be it a family or other extended groupings.
Individualist culture attaches social status rewards to personal achievements and thus, provides not only monetary incentives for innovation but also social status rewards, leading to higher rates of innovation and economic growth
sometimes the individualistic person may conflict with people interest and also vice versa with the
Advantages of collectivism
Selflessness and willingness to help others in a group
The accomplishment of collective goals
Supporting other members of a group
Peacefulness in a group
Stability of a whole group
Love and unity in a group
Disadvantages of collectivism
Lack of personal pursuits and goals
No personal ideologies
Everyone faces the same troubles
Fear of new changes
Encourages laziness
Advantages of individualism
Personal freedom
Personal achievements
Personal awards for certain accomplishments
Learning new things
Life enjoyment
Personal focus
Influencing others
Disadvantage of individualism
Little to no social support networks
Issues with emotional compliance/resilience
Lower option to seek advice or help from other sources or people
Weak or poor mental health
No sacrificing or group work supported
